Turning Aluminum Into Gold

Each rocket takes about 40 hours to make. Each component has to be either turned or milled. Then fit together with nice tight tolerances. Each piece is hand polished. They could be made quicker if I outsourced them to a big machine shop, but I enjoy making them myself. Custom options such as engraving or powder coating are available.

I use a Tormach Series 3 Mill with Lathe attachment. The machine breaks down into several smaller pieces so it can be fit through doorways and set up in smaller rooms. This one is set up in my basement. It runs on 115 volts so no special wiring was needed for residential use.
